Mid Term Newsletter

Wednesday 10th June 2015

Dear Parent/Guardian

Receive warm greetings from the Hillside school-Utawala fraternity. We have come to the middle of 2nd term and we thank God for taking us this far.

Mid Term Break: Our school Mid- Term break begins on Wednesday 17th to Monday 22nd June 2015. Boarders are expected to report back on Monday 22nd June 2015 before 4:00pm. Classes will resume on Tuesday 23rd June 2015 at 8:00am.

Performance: All learners have been issued with their half term performance report, kindly take time to discuss your daughter’s/son’s performance during the break. This will go a long way in ensuring our learners exceed their potential hence achieving their set targets.

Academic Trips: For the first half of the term different sections visited various places. Pre School – Mamba Village and Animal Orphanage, Lower primary – Wilson Airport and Safari Walk and mid upper – Kitengela Glass Mart and Farm.

Co-curricular Activities

i) Swimming gala - We had our first swimming gala on 28th May, 2015 which was very successful. The best house was Giraffe which was awarded a trophy.

ii) Chess and scrabble club - We recently introduced chess and scrabble for our learners and they love these sports a great deal. Both will help them learn how to concentrate and to be orderly.

iii) Music and Band - This department has grown in leaps and bounds. We advise you to pay for your child to join the music or band lessons.

iv) Music Festivals - We are preparing learners who will participate in the Kenya Music Festivals next week.

School Fees: We appreciate all parents/guardians commitment as far as payment of school fees is concerned. All learners who still have school fees arrears are expected to have cleared the same by the time they report back to school. Your son/daughter has been issued with his/her fee statement. The accounts office will remain open during the break.

Guidance and Counseling: The school has employed full time guidance and counseling expert to ensure learners are guided how to overcome challenges affecting them.

External Consultants: It is said ‘we cannot be masters of all.’ It’s with this concept that the school has also brought in an external consultant to assist both the teachers and the learners in achieving academic excellence.

Upcoming Events: The following are the upcoming events after the midterm break:
